-Starting to do my title sequence.

I am using LIVE TYPE which makes my titles look more professional rather than the effects used in iMovie. Here is me in practice working on title "Directed By Oliver Mould"

Genre: After going to a recent OCR lecture with the chief examiner of Media Studies, he made it clear that originality was key. This is why I wanted to go for a unique hybrid genre of Art House Fantasy. Preliminary, I was looking at Crime, Thriller, and Horror but it was extremely common so I wanted something that would challenge me. 

Plot: This was an extremely difficult part of the planning. I have a love for art, so I wanted to base it around this fact. I also had to try and link the fantasy element with this. I came up with the idea of a boy that can talk to paintings and hear first hand evidence from old kings themselves. This made me extremely enthusiastic. It has also never been done before according to my research.

Character: My character is not a stereo-type in anyway. He does not join in any social group what so ever. I am however influenced by Richard Ayoade's film Submarine's protagonist Oliver Tate. He is quirky and indifferent about what he wears and how he acts socially. I also wanted him to be upper class as it matched well with the surroundings

Location: Location is set in 3 places. The first is an abandoned pub. This is where Pereguine lives. The second is a London Gallery in the West End. The third is outside the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square. All these places are visually interesting. We see luxury paintings, to famous sites in London, and enigmatic old streets. Our location also helps construct our upper class character. 

Story Board

Here is an animatic I created for my preparation of opening two minutes. These are a select shots that I want to try and achieve in my opening sequence. They include two shots, long shots, Medium Close ups, and a 360 pan. This storyboard is vital in preparing my shots. I took this on location as this helped me with framing and what I wanted to achieve visually.

Here is some location shots I have taken from my telephone. I try and go by the conventions of an art house/fantasy so I have to make them atmospheric, mystereious and enigmatic. Here are some potential locations I might use for my opening two minutes.

A Gallery in Dover Street.

I have managed to get permission to film in this London Art Gallery. This is to imitate National Gallery where Angus walks in to. Sadly I have not been able to film in the National Gallery.

Production Cycle

For my film, I wish to follow the production cycle. I will be following this but on a smaller scale as it is an opening two minutes:

Costumes- Suit (Shows Angus's quirky side. Not a conventional teenagers shirt)
Location- Trafalgar Square, Abandoned Pub, Central London Gallery
Props- Picture Frame, Portraits etc
Lighting Low Key Lighting + High Key. (Natural Light internal Shots) (Artificial Lights External Shot)
Cast- Angus
Make-up- None
Hair- Long but whipped back (Not conventionally fashionable)

The next is the actual shoot (the production) The shoot would have hopefully been so well organised that no disorganisation will be created

Target Audience

I found this source to be incredibly useful for the research of my target audience. The older generation aged between 40-70 are more engaged in a thought-provoking and emotionally stimulating film that makes one think rather than an in your face, literal horror or rom com.  It has been said regarding art house films that a certain amount

"degree of experience and knowledge are required to understand or appreciate such films". They target an "older and more affluent audience" which is apparent in this graph. 

Film students also analyse these films. These films are normally taken to smaller cinemas and a niche audiences are common.
